Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

This one was definitely different. It definitely did become much more adult without warning, not very good planning if Stephenie Meyers wants to continue to sell YA fiction. The story was still good, different speed, but I still enjoyed it. I think she tied up things nicely without being too predictable but without leaving anyone terribly upset about not getting what they want. Bella is still amazing, with some extra twists added in. I think that some shortcuts were taken but overall entertaining, but on an more mature level.

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

There is a common misconception that these books are about Edward and though he is beautiful there is so much more to it. I find myself falling in love with all of the Cullens. I wish I could have a big brother like Emmett, etc. This book definitely gives more insight into the rest of the family. Jacob is still being Jacob. I’ve heard people talk about teams, but that is for you to decide. Everything is tied in the Volturi and Victoria, but only some things are resolved. The wedding is looming closer as is the changing, but of course those curiosities will not be satisfied until the next one. I think what Meyer does most amazingly is she makes everyone so dynamic. We’re used to werewolves and vampires being one thing or another, but she makes them anything but. Though it is a little sad that Angela seems to be the only redemption for the human race. Anyway much anticipation for the last one and rumors of the books from Edward’s point of view.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

It probably sounds silly to say that a book known for romance reminds me what it is like to be a kid again, but the reason is today I got up, cooked lunch and read straight through this book from cover to cover. One downside to reading such a popular book is the whispers you hear, but I was not disappointed in any way. Bella becomes even more dynamic, though a little melodramatic. Edward might actually become more beautiful because he is more flawed. You take a step deeper into the world of the mythical and into the town of Forks. People all around are less perfect especially Charlie who would make any teen want to rebel. The dangers are no longer exclusively about Bella but begin to affect more and more people. It was beautiful and filled with adrenaline and emotion. The last one could stand alone fairly successfully but this time around you feel like she stopped not on the edge of the cliff but the instant after the jump (and this feeling is just aggravated by the inclusion of the beginning of the next, oh publishers). And of course you are left wondering will Bella ever be a vampire?

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

This is the best read I have had in YEARS. I was completely engrossed, in love, infatuated. I don’t think I really breathed at all the second half of the book. I stayed up until like 6 am to finish it. Meyer creates in Bella someone that anyone can relate to whether it is her normality, her mother, her self inflicted banishment to Forks, or any of the other beautiful facets of humanity. Yes, this is a vampire book but it is so much more than that. Edward is not the only vampire that steals your heart, the entire family captures you. Yes the bad guys are out there, but the dynamic created by the Cullens brings a whole new dimension. Meyers also takes an entirely different view on vampires adding in her own personal flair in the details making it all the more magical. There is a movie on its way and as usual I am afraid, but we shall see. I am also slightly in a hurry because I just got my grubby paws on the second in the series. So expect an update.
